Terms of service
These terms cover this website and any work you hire Wavelength Web Design & SEO to do. Wavelength Web Design & SEO is the registered business name (WAVELENGTH WEB DESIGN & SEO, a Nova Scotia sole proprietorship) of Ryan Martin. By using the site or booking a project, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, email me at wavelength.web.design@gmail.com before I start.
My prices
- Website build: $349 CAD, one time. This is the web design only: I send you the finished website files. Hosting and a domain name are not included.
- Traction setup (getting found on Google and earning reviews): $199 CAD, one time. It covers your Google Business Profile content and linking, a check of your website’s search basics, a speed and phone check, a check of your business listings across the web with a listing kit, your review link, QR code and review request messages, and a plan for new pages. It works on a website I built or on a website you already have.
- Traction monthly: $69 CAD per month, only available after Traction setup. It covers drafted replies to your new reviews, about one new local page a month, a monthly report, a site speed and phone check, and a re-check of your directory listings every three months.
- Maintenance (called Maintain on the home page): $49 CAD per month, only for websites I built. It covers registering and renewing your domain in your name, hosting and publishing your website, and keeping it running: fixing what breaks, keeping the software behind it up to date and secure, and keeping it online.
All prices are in Canadian dollars. I am not registered for GST/HST at the moment, so no sales tax is added. If that changes, I’ll tell you before it affects your invoices.
Before any work begins, I send you my Client Services Agreement, which sets out what is included, and work starts once you accept it and pay. Anything outside that agreement is quoted in writing and only starts once you approve it.
Changes to your website
A website build includes two rounds of changes after the first version, both free. Send each round as one written list. New pages or new features aren’t changes, and changes after the second round are quoted in writing first.
Payment and refunds
- I accept payment by Interac e-Transfer only.
- The website build and Traction setup are paid in full before work starts. If you cancel before work starts, you get a full refund. Once work has started there is no refund, and you keep the work done so far.
- Traction monthly and maintenance are billed in advance on the 1st of each month. If a service starts partway through a month, your first invoice covers only the days left in it.
Cancelling a monthly service
To cancel, give me 30 days’ written notice. Your last invoice covers only the days up to the end date, and time already paid for is not refunded. Within 14 days of a service ending, I remove my access to your accounts and give you anything I hold for you.
Hosting and your domain
- The website build covers the web design only. I send you the finished website files, and you can put them online with any host you choose.
- If you would like me to publish your website, you subscribe to Maintenance. I register your domain in your name, so you are its legal owner, and manage it for you in my own domain account. I host the site and publish it at your domain. The domain’s yearly renewal is covered by the monthly fee.
- Maintenance is optional. You only need it if you want me to publish the website. If you host the files yourself, you do not need it.
- If you cancel Maintenance, the domain stays yours, in your name. I move it into a domain account you control, or give you what you need to transfer it to the company of your choice, and I send you the website files. You will need to find a new host. Some domains can’t be moved to a different company for a short time after they are first registered; if that applies to yours, I’ll tell you when it can move.
Google listings and reviews
Your Google Business Profile and other listings stay yours. I prepare the content and a reply for each review, and you approve and post every reply. I never fake, buy or filter reviews, never make bulk, paid or automated directory submissions, and can’t promise a set position in Google results.
Traction works on a website I built or on a website you already have. On your own website I start read-only: checks, reports and review reply drafts only need your Google Business Profile. I edit your website only for fixes you approve. If you can’t give me access, I send you the fixes as a list.
Your materials and accounts
You confirm you have the right to use anything you send me, such as logos, photos and copy, and you keep ownership of it.
I work through invitations, never passwords: when the work needs one of your accounts (such as your website platform, Google Business Profile, Search Console), you invite me through that platform’s own invite feature, with the lowest role that does the work. Please don’t send me your passwords. I never become the owner of your accounts, never invite other people to them and never change your passwords or recovery details, and you can remove my access at any time.
Ownership of the work
Your domain, your accounts (Google Business Profile, Search Console and directory listings) and your content always stay yours. Once the build is paid in full, you also own the final website made for you. Third-party items such as fonts, stock images and plugins stay under their own licences, and hosting is provided under the host’s terms.
Showing the work
I may show finished work in my portfolio unless you and I agree otherwise in writing.
Limits
I do careful work, but I can’t promise any site will be free of every error or available at all times, especially where hosting and third-party platforms are involved. To the extent the law allows, my liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the work the claim relates to.
Changes
I may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If your Client Services Agreement says something different from this page, the agreement applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia, Canada.
